North of the city you want junction 34; south of it, junction 33. Get that right and you spare yourself a river crossing, which is the thing to dodge if you can. Everything moving between the two halves of Lancaster goes over Greyhound Bridge or Skerton Bridge, and any works on either one are felt right across town. For airport runs the squeeze comes on the M6 south towards Preston, junctions 31 and 32 in particular, so we build that in without being asked.
