Nowhere does the car count for more. Reclining, ventilated rear seats, four-zone climate and acoustic double glazing separate arriving tired from arriving ready to go. Anything of three hours or more, and we will point you at the S-Class or its long-wheelbase equivalent without hesitating. Ask for that extra rear legroom by name when you enquire; it is worth having.
Stops are yours to call. Straight through, if that is what you want, and we go straight through. Prefer to break somewhere decent for coffee? We will name a better option than motorway services and put the time into the plan. Families with children in the car generally want a stop about every ninety minutes, and scheduling that is far easier than improvising it at junction nineteen.
Set against the alternatives, what appeals is the lack of transitions. Nothing to park. No security queue. No changing at Birmingham New Street while wrangling three cases, and no onward taxi waiting to be found at the far end. Collection happens at your door, delivery at the destination door, and the luggage stays in the boot the whole way between. Travel with a small child, a pile of equipment, or limited mobility, and that one detail outweighs how good the seats are.
Routes we run often: London out to the Cotswolds, up to Manchester and Edinburgh, cross-country to Cornwall and the Lake District, plus the long return legs after a wedding or a shoot. A one-way journey is perfectly normal, and we will quote it straight rather than push a return you have no use for. Running overnight? Say so when you enquire, because the planning shifts a good deal once the roads empty and the driving hours tighten.

Planning a journey of real distance
Quoting long distance work means looking at the whole shape of a journey, not applying a published rate per mile. How far you go, what hour you leave, which vehicle you have asked for and where the car ends up afterwards all enter the same sum, which explains why one leg to Edinburgh and the same run there and back are seldom a neat half and double. Tolls on the motorway, crossings, any city charges at either end: all of it is folded into the written figure, so nothing has to be settled at the roadside.
Departure time is where people go wrong most often. The hour that suits the morning gets chosen instead of the hour that beats the traffic, and ninety minutes then vanish on the M25 or on the M6 on a Friday afternoon. Give us the time you have to arrive and let us work backwards from it; if the answer is a six o'clock start, we will say so plainly. Luggage comes second. Four adults with real suitcases will not sit comfortably in a saloon, however impressive the boot looks in a photograph.
Segments are how a long run gets built. Your chauffeur turns up ahead of the agreed time and loads the car while you finish whatever you were in the middle of. Escaping a city takes the longest, so the first stretch is usually the slowest of the lot. Breaks land where there is somewhere decent to stand, not at some fixed interval on the clock, and the closing half hour carries a margin so that arrival stays calm. Planning to sleep, or to work? Say which, and the cabin is arranged for it before you climb in.

Distance and the working day
On business, the argument for an intercity chauffeur is simple arithmetic. Three hours in a quiet rear compartment, with a table, a charged laptop and nobody announcing anything, gives you three hours of output; the same trip by rail with two changes might yield one. Behind privacy glass you can take a call at normal volume, and a confidential exchange between two colleagues stays with the two of them.
Put three or four colleagues in one vehicle and the comparison with separate tickets usually holds up once the taxis at both ends are counted, with the added benefit that everybody stays in the same conversation en route. Roughly half the long-distance driving we do has nothing to do with work. Country weekends. You leave from your own door, at an hour of your choosing, with as much as you feel like bringing, and that is the part which makes a Friday evening feel like the start of something.
Coming home after a celebration is a category of its own. Driving yourself at midnight from a wedding two counties away appeals to nobody, and nobody should have to. The car sits waiting until you decide to go, the whole party travels together, and that awkward conversation about who has had what to drink simply never takes place. Once the roads empty, overnight journeys are planned differently, so mention the hour when you enquire.

Timing & Availability
Notice, seasons and busy roads
Two or three days makes comfortable notice for most cross-country runs, and it lets us put the exact vehicle and the right chauffeur on the route. Out of London, same-day often works; from a rural pickup, where the car must position itself first, rather less dependably. A week suits better where the journey wants an unusual specification, a very early start, or a return several days afterwards.
Roads keep a calendar of their own. Westbound on a Friday afternoon, back into London on a Sunday evening, the days either side of a bank holiday, the opening of August, the week before Christmas: every one of them runs slower than the map claims, and we build that in rather than discover it alongside you. Half term traffic heading for Devon and Cornwall earns particular respect.

Long-Distance Chauffeur — your questions
Not in practice, no. Our range covers the whole of the United Kingdom, Scotland and Wales included. On very long routes, driving-hours rules may call for a rest break or a second chauffeur, and the quotation will set that out.
For one or two passengers, the S-Class, and in long-wheelbase form if you can have it. A family, or a group with real luggage, is better served by the V-Class: individual rear seats, flat floor.
Not as a rule, though the chauffeur's return leg does feed into the pricing. Distance, duration, vehicle and timing shape every quotation individually, and that figure comes to you in writing beforehand. Travelling out one week and back the next? Give us both dates, since it sometimes alters what we are able to offer.
Yes. Flag it beforehand and the timings will carry it, whether that means lunch, a viewpoint or picking someone up en route. Stops that come up unplanned on the day are usually fine as well, within a sensible margin.
