Everything about Stansted turns on the M11. From central London the run is straightforward once you are clear of the North Circular, but the stretch past Harlow and the junction below Bishop's Stortford can slow badly at peak hours. We choose a collection time that accounts for it rather than discovering it halfway, and your chauffeur waits outside your address instead of arriving as you lock the front door.

There is one passenger terminal, designed by Norman Foster and unusually easy to read once you are inside it, with a single set-down area directly outside the entrance. Your chauffeur pulls up at the door, lifts out the cases and hands them across, which makes for a short walk to check-in rather than a trek. Coming back the other way, your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and carries the luggage to the car. Give us the flight number when you book and we plan the pickup around the published schedule and the clearance time Stansted normally takes. Late-evening arrivals are common here, and we plan for them as a matter of routine rather than treating them as an exception.

A good share of our Stansted work is Cambridge-bound: parents visiting for a weekend, guests arriving for a college dinner, families heading home to the villages of north Essex and Suffolk. The rest runs the other way into London. Newmarket, Saffron Walden and Chelmsford are all comfortable drives from the terminal, and the roads out through the Essex countryside are quiet once the motorway is behind you.
