Quiet is not a word anyone uses about Heathrow arrivals. By the time you reach the baggage hall your chauffeur has parked and walked inside, and stands in the arrivals hall with a name board rather than texting you from some far-off car park. Give us the flight number at booking. We then build the pickup around the published schedule and the clearance times that terminal usually runs to, which leaves the waiting to us instead of you.
Going the other way, the question becomes when to set off. We answer it by weighing the terminal, the day and the hour instead of imposing one blanket rule, since the M4 at seven in the morning is a completely different road from the M4 at ten at night. Your chauffeur turns up ahead of the agreed time, lifts the cases into the boot, and takes whichever drop-off route your terminal calls for. The airport starts at the kerb.
Four passenger terminals operate at Heathrow, numbered 2, 3, 4 and 5, and they are scattered over a site big enough that picking the wrong one costs you a great deal of time. Terminals 2 and 3 sit in the central area. Terminal 4 lies to the south-east, Terminal 5 to the west, and each has its own approach. Reading Heathrow before you fly
One arrivals hall per terminal, one set of doors that passengers come through, and that is precisely where your chauffeur stands holding a name board. Reckon on a good half hour between landing and reaching those doors on a quiet European flight, and rather longer after a long-haul morning arrival when several wide-bodied aircraft hit immigration together. Our planning uses the published schedule you send us, with waiting time added on rather than a best case assumed.
Which forecourt you need governs a departure. Terminals 2 and 3 stand together in the central area, reached through the tunnel beneath the runways; Terminal 4 sits south-east on a spur of its own, Terminal 5 away to the west, and neither counts as a short hop from the middle. Every terminal charges for forecourt drop-off, a cost we include in the quotation, and your chauffeur sets down at whichever door is nearest your check-in zone.
Everything else comes down to roads. Inbound to London, the M4 is heaviest through the early morning and heaviest outbound through the late afternoon, while the M25 between junctions 12 and 15 ranks among the busiest stretches in the country and can stop dead with no warning at all. Before five in the morning both flow freely, which is why a first departure tends to be the calmest journey of the week. Collection times follow the hour you are genuinely travelling.

Timing & Availability
When to book Heathrow
Notice helps, as much of it as you can comfortably give, though midweek journeys often work at short notice. The pressure points hardly vary: the Friday before a school holiday, the last week of July, the days either side of Christmas, the whole of the Easter fortnight. Larger vehicles disappear first, so a seven-seater in August wants booking a long way ahead.
Departures in the small hours are ordinary work for us and frequently the easiest journey of the day. Confirm the evening before, leave the terminal and the address with us, and the car will be on your street ahead of the hour you asked for. Should plans move while you are away, a WhatsApp message does the job; email suits longer itineraries and anything needing confirmation in writing.
