Getting there is half the job. Big venues run designated drop-off points, one-way systems that only come alive on event days, and roads shut off entirely an hour before doors open. That usually means a short walk in good shoes rather than a long one in the rain.

Almost every event falls under one of two structures. Price a pair of transfers and the journey there and the journey back are treated as separate movements, which suits a fixed finish such as a theatre curtain. Timing & Availability
The season and how it fills
Between May and September the British event season concentrates itself, and inside that stretch a handful of fixtures absorb most of the available cars on the very same days. Treat Royal Ascot week, the Wimbledon fortnight, Henley, Goodwood, the British Grand Prix and the Chelsea Flower Show as book-early dates, above all if you want one specific vehicle rather than simply a good one.
Away from those weeks, a few days' notice generally covers a theatre evening or a dinner, and a midweek request can often be arranged the same day. December stands apart. Office parties, carol concerts and pantomime season occupy the evenings from the last week of November onwards, and the Saturdays in that month go first of all. Ask early in December and the choice is still yours to make.
