London to Manchester by Chauffeur

The train from Euston is quick and it is also two hundred miles of other people. A chauffeur changes the arithmetic entirely: the car collects you from home or the office, your luggage stays exactly where you put it, and there is no interchange at either end. For two or three travelling together it often costs little more than first class between them, and it finishes at a door rather than at a taxi rank in the rain.

The route leaves London on the M1, joins the M6 near Rugby and runs past Birmingham before the long, open stretch through Staffordshire and Cheshire. The M6 Toll is worth taking when the Midlands are heavy, and your chauffeur makes that call on the day rather than the week before. From Knutsford it is a straightforward run in on the M56, or round on the M60 depending on which side of the city you need.

Four hours in the back of a quiet saloon is four hours you keep. Guests take calls, read papers properly, sleep, or watch the country shift from Northamptonshire fields to the Cheshire plain. There is no boarding, no seat reservation and no need to stop mid-sentence when somebody sits down opposite. Confidential conversations stay confidential, which is not something a carriage full of strangers can offer.

We usually suggest one stop around the halfway mark and can arrange it somewhere rather better than a motorway service area if you would prefer. Return legs can be booked at the same time or left open. If the day runs long we are happy to wait in Manchester and bring you home in the evening. Timings remain approximate, because the Midlands decide most of them.
