Treat the stated luggage capacity as a shape, not a figure. The boot aperture runs wide and shallow, which is what happens in a flagship saloon rather than an estate, so what limits you is nearly always case height and not floor area. Two large cases and three cabin bags is a genuinely accurate description, and a fortnight in the sun for two people goes in without argument. Skis for two, a folded travel cot, a large instrument: those do not. An MPV or an SUV answers better there, and frequently costs less as well.
