Kingston Bridge is the fact around which everything here turns. It is one of only a handful of Thames crossings between Richmond and Walton, and it carries far more than it was built for. Southbound into Kingston it queues from mid-morning until the shops close, and northbound it backs up into the Hampton Wick junction through the evening. Rugby at Twickenham, three miles north, is the other thing worth planning around. On a match day the A310 and the roads through Teddington fill early, and the return afterwards is slower still.
