Chauffeur Service Sherborne
Golden ham stone built the whole of Sherborne, and the town carries its abbey, its two castles and its schools with perfect composure.
Quoted individually. Give us the outline and a written price comes back to you: no rate card, no obligation whatsoever.
Few small towns in the West Country look better. The abbey would pass for a cathedral, a ruined castle faces a Capability Brown landscape, and the independent shops along Cheap Street have held out against the usual fate. Much of the calendar comes from the schools, which pack the hotels on speech days and exeat weekends. Past the edges lies quiet, expensive country, with weddings, shooting parties and private weekends in houses scattered right across the Blackmore Vale.
Narrow streets run through Cheap Street and around the abbey, and parking is restricted throughout, so the civilised thing is a set-down by the abbey gates and a collection at a corner agreed in advance. That matters most at an occasion, when everyone turns up together. A short walk from the centre stands the station, its forecourt small. Out in the vale the usual trouble applies: lanes without names, postcodes shared between miles of them, and gateways that slip past you in the dark.
Going north, Bristol Airport works out at an hour and a quarter to an hour and forty-five, through Wincanton and then either the A37 or the M5. Heathrow sits at two and a half hours or thereabouts. Yeovil is fifteen minutes, Bath an hour, Dorchester forty minutes, the Jurassic Coast a little over an hour, so a day at the sea and back is perfectly comfortable from a base this far inland.

Local Knowledge
Nothing sets the local rhythm like the school calendar. Speech days, exeats and the end of term squeeze arrivals into narrow windows, and on those mornings the streets by the schools and the abbey fill in minutes. Collection points move slightly off the main gates, with timings placed either side of the surge, which generally turns a frustrating half hour into a straightforward five. Abbey services and concerts get treated on the same principle.
Both the A30 running through the town and the A352 going south are agreeable roads that carry rather more traffic than their width suggests. A few miles north the A303 does the real east and west work, complete with the summer queues everybody knows about around Wincanton and Ilminster. Lanes in the Blackmore Vale are narrow, hedged, and given to standing water once winter sets in. For a first flight from Bristol we would leave Sherborne about two and a quarter hours ahead.
Why Luxury Chauffeurs
01
Load the luggage once. That same vehicle then stays with you the whole way, from a London doorstep to a village hotel at the far end of the country.
02
Down a lane, across gravel, up to a gatehouse: that closing stretch of a journey happens to be precisely the part public transport cannot manage at all.
03
We price a regional journey whole, return leg and any waiting included, which leaves nothing at all to be worked out once you reach the far end.
04
Each place here gets its own page: what a chauffeur genuinely does on the ground, honest road timings, and where the car can wait once you arrive.

Four Steps
Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.
01
Message us on WhatsApp with your date, the addresses and roughly how the day looks, or fill in the journey planner instead. Nothing is owed either way, and getting a price asks for no card details at all.
02
Back comes a written quotation setting out the vehicle, the timings and everything included. No estimate that shifts afterwards, and no surge pricing.
03
Once you confirm, your date has a vehicle against it and a named professional chauffeur, with the terms set down in writing.
04
Your chauffeur is briefed beforehand on the route, the access and where the waiting happens, so nothing gets decided at the kerb.
Included as Standard
Quoted as one price. No hidden extras added at the end of the journey.
Sherborne chauffeur hire, arranged for school weekends, abbey occasions and quiet houses in the country.

Corporate & Business
Outside London, business travel is where the road wins hands down. A site in an industrial park. A client on a business park hanging off a motorway junction. Two offices in two different cities on one day. Not one of those sits near a station, and every one of them is straightforward by car. What happens on the drive between them is preparation, rather than an interval spent waiting about for a connection.
Administratively, nationwide chauffeur work is easier to keep hold of. Across a two-day itinerary you have one booking, one written quotation and one chauffeur, in place of a tangle of tickets, transfers and receipts. When a team travels together the conversation carries on inside the car, and that often turns out to be the most productive hour of the trip, the one nobody thought to plan. Accounts can be set up for regular regional travel.
Who We Drive
Couples bound for a spa town, a country house or a coastal hotel, who would far rather have the break start at their own front door.
Directors calling on offices, sites and plants out in cities where a hire car plus an unfamiliar ring road would swallow most of the morning.
Christenings, graduations, anniversaries held in the part of the country everybody left, reached without three changes and a rural taxi waiting at the end.
Visitors keen to see Britain itself instead of the inside of terminals, and who put a value on one arrangement spanning several counties.
Events & Occasions
Of every journey there is, a country wedding repays a chauffeur most. The venue sits at the end of a lane. Parking is a field. The reception runs late, and by midnight the drive home is the last thing anybody wants in their head. Book it properly and the car waits exactly where you agreed it would, leaving one decision only: which of you falls asleep first.
Leisure travel gains something else again. Give a weekend in a spa town, a college city or a stretch of coastline a route that belongs to you, and it improves at once. A detour to some church one of you read about. A long lunch nobody has to abandon for a train. An afternoon stretched out because the weather turned generous. The car waits through all of it, and the day holds its own shape.

Airport Transfers
Count on 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes; clogged roads add to it.
Inside the terminal, a name board goes up and your chauffeur waits with it, then carries the bags to the car. Give us a flight number and the collection is planned around the published schedule and how long clearing normally takes. Departures run the other way. We start at the check-in you want to make and count backwards, leaving room for the road and the hour of day.

Timing & Availability
On a long journey, Britain's weather does more damage than its traffic ever will. Winter afternoons close in early, and that matters a great deal when the final leg is a single-track road. Highland and moorland routes can run substantially longer than any summer estimate suggests. Those allowances go into the timings from the start, rather than being discovered together halfway up a glen. Where a departure hour makes the schedule uncomfortable, we propose a better one.
Demand tracks the calendar closely. Bank holiday weekends fill fast, so do the weeks either side of Christmas, the summer wedding season and those university terms that all begin and end together. The further from London a journey runs, the sooner a car wants committing to it. Midweek travel in the shoulder months, by contrast, is the easiest thing in the world to arrange.
Professional Chauffeur Standards
What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.
Before anyone drives for us they are licensed, insured and vetted. Ahead of the day your chauffeur reads the journey through, and turns up dressed for the occasion.
No branding appears on the cars. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and whatever gets said behind the front seats goes no further.
Cars of the current generation, valeted ahead of each journey, still water and charging in the rear compartment.
One person takes your enquiry, writes the quotation and sees the booking through, so you never explain anything twice.
