Within a few miles of leaving Perth, the A9 becomes a different road. Stretches of dual carriageway carry you past Dunkeld and on towards Pitlochry, then it drops back to single carriageway with average speed enforcement running for much of the way, and the long-running dualling works keep moving contraflows and temporary limits from one season to the next.
