Between new apartment blocks, a rebuilt station and the wetlands at Sutcliffe Park, the area has taken on a character it lacked twenty years ago, Blackheath to one side and Eltham to the other. Passengers here are mostly professionals working in Canary Wharf and the City, families newly arrived on the development, and visitors staying locally the night before a flight. What everyone asks for is a car genuinely at the right entrance, not somewhere in the vicinity.
Which is the practical heart of the matter. Newer streets curl around podium blocks with residents' parking and pedestrian courts, so a postcode on its own will often land a driver on the far side of a landscaped square. The block and the vehicle entrance therefore get agreed beforehand. Running in a cutting with access only at set junctions, the A2 is fed by local roads rather than joined by them. Kidbrooke sits inside the ULEZ, and charges are included in the quotation.
Through the tunnel, London City is usually only 25 to 45 minutes away. Canary Wharf frequently comes in at 20 to 40. Gatwick asks rather more of you, 60 to 95 minutes via the A2 and M25. Count 35 to 60 minutes for the West End. Travelling by Eurostar, allow 40 to 70 minutes for St Pancras, or roughly 25 to 40 to Ebbsfleet if that timetable suits you better.

Sun in the Sands and the A102
The Sun in the Sands roundabout takes every northbound journey out of Kidbrooke, and it is there that the A2 Rochester Way Relief Road meets the A102 Blackwall Tunnel Southern Approach. Think of it as this quarter of London's gateway to the tunnel, and expect it to act like one. Fluid before seven. Congested from half past. Capable of standing entirely still the moment something goes wrong in the bores underneath. Go westbound and the A2 carries on into Blackheath and Deptford, while the A205 drops south out of Eltham towards Catford.
The useful skill is knowing when to give up on the tunnel. Once the northbound queue backs onto the A2, the Woolwich Ferry becomes worth a look for London City, with the Silvertown Tunnel beside Blackwall as the other option. Anything west of the City is frequently reached faster by running through Greenwich and over Tower Bridge than by sitting in the queue. Any tunnel or crossing charge on your journey is included in the quotation and settled by us.
