What is your policy on alcohol in the vehicle?

The short answer

We do not stock alcohol, and whether you may drink your own in the car depends on the vehicle and the licensing that applies to it. Ask when you book and we will confirm in writing what applies to yours. Your chauffeur, needless to say, does not drink at all before or during a booking.

This question arrives most often before a wedding, a milestone birthday or a race day, and it deserves a straighter answer than most operators give it. There is no single national rule that covers every chauffeur vehicle, which is why a confident yes or no from anyone should be treated with mild suspicion. What applies to your car depends on how that car is licensed and by whom.

So the useful thing we can do is explain the moving parts, tell you what we ask of passengers regardless, and encourage you to raise it at the point of enquiry rather than at the kerb with a bottle in your hand. It takes one message to settle, and settling it in writing beforehand avoids an awkward conversation on a day meant to be enjoyable.

Why there is no single answer

Chauffeur vehicles in the United Kingdom operate under licensing regimes that vary between authorities, and conditions attached to a private hire licence differ from one council area to the next. Some carry explicit restrictions on alcohol being consumed by passengers; others are silent on it. The vehicle allocated to your booking sits under one of those regimes, and the honest answer for your journey follows from which.

That is why we will not print a blanket policy here and then quietly contradict it in practice. Tell us the date, the vehicle you have in mind and what you would like to do, and the reply confirms the position for that booking in writing. It is a short exchange and it removes the ambiguity entirely.

Celebrations, weddings and race days

For occasions where a glass in the car is part of the picture, the practical questions are the same each time: what is being brought, whether it needs to stay cold, who opens it, and where the glasses come from. We do not supply alcohol, glassware or ice as a standard part of any booking, and we would rather tell you that now than have a cool box appear in nobody's plan.

Where the arrangement can work, it works best when it is planned. A short journey between a ceremony and a reception is a very different proposition from a four-hour run to a racecourse. Mention it when you first enquire and the answer, the vehicle and any practicalities are all settled together rather than negotiated on the morning.

Travelling home after an evening

Collecting people from dinners, parties and events is ordinary work, and a professional chauffeur is entirely unbothered by passengers who have had a good evening. Nobody is judged, nothing is remarked upon, and the car is quiet and warm and takes you home. That is a large part of why the booking exists in the first place.

The line is behaviour rather than sobriety. A chauffeur will end a journey somewhere safe if a passenger becomes unwell, aggressive, or unsafe in the vehicle, and that judgement rests with the chauffeur at the time. It is rare, it is never taken lightly, and any consequence is dealt with under the terms agreed in writing when the booking was made.

  • Tell us in advance if drinks are part of the plan for the journey
  • We do not provide alcohol, glassware or ice as standard
  • Open containers in the front of the vehicle are never acceptable
  • Your chauffeur does not drink before or during any booking
  • Cleaning consequences follow the written terms rather than an invented charge
  • Ask about a specific vehicle and we will confirm its position in writing

Asking before you book

The whole of this comes down to one message. Say what the occasion is, what you would like to bring and which car you have in mind, and you will get a plain answer in the same thread, in writing, before anything is confirmed. If the answer is no for that vehicle, we will say so and explain why rather than leaving it vague.

That written record is the point. When the day arrives, nobody is relying on a half-remembered conversation about what was agreed, and your chauffeur is working from exactly the same information you are. It is a small piece of administration that makes celebrations run considerably more smoothly.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Choose Luxury Chauffeurs

  • 01

    Held, not hailed

The car is reserved against your name for the whole booking. Nothing is pooled, nothing is reallocated, and no algorithm decides who arrives at your door.

  • 02

    Priced in writing

Distance, duration, vehicle and timing are worked out before you commit, then confirmed in writing, so the figure you agree is the figure for the journey.

  • 03

    London and beyond

A short run across Mayfair and an unhurried drive to the Highlands are arranged with the same care, by the same people, under one booking.

  • 04

    Discretion as habit

Unbranded vehicles, chauffeurs who speak only when spoken to, and a rear compartment where a confidential call needs no lowering of the voice.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Business Travel Across Britain

Corporate chauffeur work runs to a diary rather than a postcode. Meetings overrun, a signing drags past six, and the airport leg still has to make check-in. Because the vehicle is committed to your booking, a revised plan costs a message rather than a fresh price. Accounts can be arranged so individual travellers never handle payment, and the paperwork is kept plain enough for a finance team to reconcile without chasing anybody.

The rear compartment is treated as a working space. Cabins are quiet enough for a confidential call, papers can stay open on the seat between stops, and chauffeurs understand that what is overheard is not repeated. Roadshows, board visits and conference movements involving several cars are coordinated centrally, so one person holds the schedule and one thread carries every change to it.

Before You Send

What to Tell Us

None of it is compulsory. The more you include, the sooner we can reply with a firm written price rather than a question.

  1. 01

    Where and when

Pickup and destination addresses, the date, and the time you need to arrive rather than leave.

  2. 02

    Who is travelling

Passenger numbers, large cases and cabin bags, and the ages of any children so we fit the right seats.

  3. 03

    The shape of the day

One journey, a return, or a car held for several hours. Say if the timings might move.

  4. 04

    Flight or event details

A flight number lets us plan around the published schedule; an event name tells us which gate and which traffic plan.

  5. 05

    Vehicle preference

A category is enough — or ask us to recommend one for the party and the distance.

  6. 06

    Anything else

Accessibility requirements, a preferred route, a stop on the way, or a quiet car with no conversation.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
