Private Tours
Cambridge is the gentler of the two university cities, and it is at its best when you are in no hurry at all.
Quoted individually. Share the outline and we reply with a written price — no rate card, no obligation.
Cambridge is compact in a way that flatters a day trip. Almost everything you have come to see sits within twenty minutes on foot, and the part that makes the city famous — the Backs, where seven colleges run down to the Cam — is a single continuous walk. Arriving by car with a chauffeur means you can be set down at one end in the morning and collected at the other, with the middle spent entirely on your feet.
King's College Chapel is the fixed point. Even people who have seen a great deal of ecclesiastical architecture tend to stop in the doorway. Trinity's Great Court and St John's Bridge of Sighs follow naturally along the same walk, and the Fitzwilliam Museum, ten minutes south, is free to enter and consistently underrated. Punting on the Cam is booked at the river and is worth the hour if the weather is on your side.
The afternoon belongs to Grantchester. It is two miles upriver, walkable across the meadows if you are inclined, and the tea garden under the apple trees has been serving visitors for well over a century. Your chauffeur can take you there directly and bring you back, or drop you at the meadow gate and meet you at the far end. Ely, with its extraordinary cathedral, sits half an hour north if you want more.
As on all our touring days, we provide the vehicle and the chauffeur rather than commentary or tickets. Your chauffeur is not a licensed guide. College and chapel admission is arranged by you, opening hours vary with term and events, and we will happily advise on what is realistic. If you would like a qualified guide with you for the walking sections, we can arrange one.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs
01
Cambridge asks less of the legs than most historic cities. Nothing climbs, distances are short, and the car closes the only real gaps, out to Grantchester and up to Ely.
02
One continuous riverside walk from Queens' to St John's, begun where you are dropped and finished where the car is already waiting for you.
03
Evensong at King's is one of the quiet glories of an English day. We plan the route so you are inside before the doors close, then take you home.
04
The car and a professional chauffeur are what we provide. College entry is booked by you, we advise on timings, and a qualified guide can accompany the walking.
At a Glance
The Backs run continuously from Queens' to St John's — set down at one end, collected at the other.
Tea under the apple trees, two miles upriver, and the car ready whenever you have finished.
Half an hour north, and one of the great cathedrals of England on a nearly empty road.
Local Knowledge
The city itself needs about four hours on foot, which leaves a genuine afternoon. Grantchester takes an hour and a half with tea; Ely wants two including the drive. Between those, most people manage a punt. In midsummer the light holds until ten and an evening in the meadows is possible. In midwinter you have until about half three, so the outdoor half goes first and the museum second.
Chapel and college admission is arranged by you, and King's in particular runs on published visiting windows that close for services, examinations and recording sessions. Tell us the time you hold and we work outwards from it, because an eleven o'clock chapel and a three o'clock chapel produce two different itineraries. The centre is heavily restricted to traffic, so set-down happens at agreed points and the car waits close by rather than at the gate.
Nothing here is steep, but the Backs are grass and gravel and the meadow path to Grantchester is properly rural, so it becomes heavy going after rain. The alternative is simply to be driven there. When the weather turns, the Fitzwilliam and Ely Cathedral will hold an entire afternoon between them. Your chauffeur is a driver rather than a licensed guide; if you want the colleges explained, we will arrange a qualified guide to walk with you.

Four Steps
Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.
01
Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.
02
You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.
03
On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.
04
Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Cambridge is the gentler of the two university cities, and it is at its best when you are in no hurry at all.

Corporate & Business
The research campuses and the science parks sit on the edges of the city, and a visiting delegation can lose an hour a day to the shuttle between them. A car and chauffeur held for the duration turns those movements into working time and makes a late-afternoon tour of the colleges possible without anyone renegotiating the schedule. One point of contact handles the whole day.
Incentive trips and academic conferences bring companions who are free all day, and Cambridge suits them unusually well: compact, gentle and easily paired with Ely. We will collect a partner programme from the hotel, run the city in the morning and return everyone for the evening dinner. Where the group wants proper narration, a qualified guide is engaged on your behalf and travels with the car.
Who We Drive
Travellers who have read about the place for years and want a full unrushed day of it, rather than ninety minutes squeezed between two train times.
Short distances, open meadows and a car within a few minutes' reach make this one of the easier historic days in England with small children in tow.
Two people who want a punt in the afternoon, tea under the apple trees at Grantchester and nobody hurrying them back towards a platform.
Guests who have already photographed King's and now want Ely's octagon, the Fitzwilliam given real time, and the fen roads on a clear afternoon.
Events & Occasions
Matriculation, graduation and May Week all bring families here in formal clothes, and formal clothes and long walks do not agree. Being driven between the college, the photographs and the dinner keeps everyone presentable. The same logic applies to a christening at a village church nearby or a birthday lunch at a riverside inn a few miles upstream.
Others come tracing a family line through the fen villages, where the churches and the parish records are scattered across twenty miles of flat country. That is a poor day by public transport and a lovely one by car. Give us the parishes and we will order them sensibly around the college visit, allowing time to stand about in a graveyard without watching the hour.

Timing & Availability
Late spring is the best of it: the Backs in blossom, punts on the water and colleges still in term. June brings examinations and May Week, when access tightens and the city is at its busiest. Autumn is calm and photogenic. Winter is short on daylight but generous with atmosphere, and evensong in a cold chapel is arguably the finest hour of the Cambridge year.
For a graduation or a May Week date, book as far ahead as you can — those weekends are spoken for months in advance across the whole trade. For an ordinary summer weekend, three weeks is comfortable. School holidays push demand towards the larger vehicles. Midweek in February or November is usually available at short notice, and the colleges are blessedly empty.
Professional Chauffeur Standards
What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.
Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.
Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.
Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.
The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.

Where We Travel
London is where most of our work begins, but a chauffeur can be arranged to and from any address in the United Kingdom.
The shape of the day
Suggested only — the route is yours to change on the day. Your chauffeur is a professional driver, not a licensed tour guide, and admission tickets are arranged by you. A qualified guide can travel with you on request.
