The colleges run along the Backs with the river behind them, the market square still holds a market, and the technology cluster around the Science Park and Addenbrooke's has made the city considerably wealthier than it looks from the pavement. Guests arrive for graduations, for interviews, for May Balls, and for the sort of unhurried visit that ends with punting and an early dinner somewhere by the water.

Bus gates and pedestrianised streets make the centre difficult to drive and impossible to guess at. We use the right approaches: the porters' lodges rather than the far end of the street, the permitted stopping points near the central colleges, and the hotels on Trumpington Street and out at Madingley. Addenbrooke's, the Biomedical Campus and the Science Park all sit outside the middle and are far simpler with a car.

Ely and its cathedral are twenty minutes north across the fens. Newmarket, the home of British racing, sits east on the A14, and the Imperial War Museum at Duxford lies south beside the M11. Saffron Walden and Audley End make an easy afternoon, and guests with a longer stay frequently ask for the run out to the north Norfolk coast and back in a single day.

Stansted is the closest airport at roughly thirty-five to fifty minutes down the M11, with Heathrow around an hour and a half to two hours depending on the M25. Luton is a similar distance to the west. From central London the M11 usually takes an hour and a half to two hours, and the train from King's Cross runs in under an hour with a car meeting it.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for Cambridge

  • 01

    Restrictions read correctly

The centre is stitched with bus gates and access-only streets, and the penalty arrives weeks later. Your route is checked against the current layout, not last year's.

  • 02

    Backs and lodges

Queen's Road along the Backs gives a car somewhere legitimate to pause, which is often the difference between a short stroll and a long one in new heels.

  • 03

    One car all day

Between the Biomedical Campus, the Science Park and the colleges you can cross the city three times before lunch. Keeping the car removes every one of those decisions.

  • 04

    Late nights covered

June evenings finish at sunrise. A meeting point is agreed while everyone is still sober enough to remember it, and the car is there when the music stops.

At a Glance

Cambridge

  • Bus gates avoided

The centre is full of restrictions that catch visitors out; the approach is planned before you travel.

  • Ball nights

June collections run very late indeed, and the car is where it was agreed rather than somewhere approximate.

  • Science parks and hospital

Addenbrooke's, the Biomedical Campus and the Science Park all sit well outside the historic centre.

Local Knowledge

Reaching the colleges and campuses

From London the M11 does almost all of the work, and the junction you leave at decides the last fifteen minutes. Junction 11 feeds Trumpington and the south of the city, Junction 12 comes in along the Barton Road, and the A14 is the way in from the west and the north. Ninety minutes to two hours is honest for a weekday; the A14 around Milton can undo any estimate on its own.

The historic centre is not so much difficult to drive as expensive to guess at. Bus gates sit where visitors least expect them, several streets are closed to traffic for most of the day, and the college fronts on Trinity Street and King's Parade are not places a car may linger. Set-downs work best from Queen's Road, from the permitted points off Trumpington Street, or at a porters' lodge on a quieter side street.

Beyond the colleges the geography opens up and the car earns its keep. Addenbrooke's and the Biomedical Campus sit south off the Hills Road corridor, the Science Park lies north beside the A14, and Granta Park, Babraham and the genome campus at Hinxton are strung out towards Saffron Walden. None is walkable from a station, all are gated, and the chauffeur waits in the visitor area or just outside it while you are in.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Meetings across the cluster

The Cambridge working day rarely happens in one building. A morning presentation on the Science Park, lunch in town and two afternoon meetings out on the Hills Road side is a normal shape, and the gaps between them are exactly where a car stops being a luxury. Papers stay on the back seat, coats stay in the boot, and nobody is standing on a verge waiting for a taxi.

Inbound teams tend to arrive at Stansted or Heathrow and go straight into a meeting, so departures are timed against the M11 and the M25 rather than an application's best case. Multi-vehicle days for a board or a delegation are coordinated from one point of contact. Where an account is preferred, it can be arranged so individual travellers never handle payment themselves.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for Cambridge

  • Graduating families

Three generations, a camera, a gown and a lunch reservation, all depending on arriving together at a street that allows almost no stopping at all.

  • Biotech and venture visitors

Investors and executives moving between Granta Park, Babraham and Hinxton in an afternoon, none of which sits usefully near a railway station.

  • Conference delegates

Speakers arriving from Stansted or Heathrow who want thirty quiet minutes beforehand and a car that waits rather than a rank that does not.

  • Returning members

Alumni back for a feast or a reunion, staying out at Madingley or in the villages, and disinclined to drive home along an unlit fen road.

Events & Occasions

College occasions and race days

General Admission in late June turns the centre into a slow procession of gowns, and every family in it has a lunch booked afterwards. The practical questions are where a car may stop near Senate House and how long it can hold there. Both are answered before the morning rather than during it, and the car stays close while photographs take longer than anybody planned.

Away from the university the year has its own rhythm. Newmarket races are twenty minutes east and finish with everybody leaving at once. Weddings run in college halls, in barns towards Saffron Walden and in the villages along the river, where evening transport for guests simply does not exist. Christmas brings carol services and the sort of night nobody wants to end on a fen road in fog.

Timing & Availability

When Cambridge fills up

Late June is the busiest fortnight in the calendar, with graduation and the ball season overlapping and the whole city booked. Early October fills again as term begins, and December brings the interview period. Around those, midweek availability is usually good and short notice is often possible, though the larger vehicles go first when several families travel together.

Race meetings at Newmarket, the summer festivals out at Cherry Hinton and any weekend with good weather on the river will all move journey times. For a fixed arrival, whether a ceremony, a service or a train back to King's Cross, we would rather set off early and wait than promise a time the road cannot deliver. An honest answer about a difficult date is more useful than a hopeful one.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
