West of London, Heathrow spreads across a very large site: Terminals 2 and 3 in the central area, Terminal 4 away south, Terminal 5 out west, and each one reached by an approach road of its own. Hotels line the Bath Road along the northern boundary, while the M4 spur and the M25 at Junctions 14 and 15 feed the entire operation. People we carry are arriving, departing or connecting, and nearly every one of them has luggage in hand and an eye on the clock.

First practical question is always which terminal, since a wrong assumption costs you fifteen minutes and a second run through the tunnel. Dropping off on a forecourt carries a charge, which we settle as part of the arrangement, and no terminal permits free waiting at the kerb. Arrivals mean parking properly and coming inside, which is why meeting you in the arrivals hall is the default here rather than some scramble at a kerb. Flights are tracked, so when one is delayed it is our timing that moves, not yours.

What people want at Heathrow varies remarkably little: a chauffeur already standing in arrivals with a name board as they come through customs, a hand with the trolley, and the car a short walk off. Departing, they want a collection timed to leave a margin without an hour of sitting airside. Business travellers connecting between terminals, or going straight on to a meeting in the City, want the car ready the moment they are out. Families want space for the cases and nothing more.

Leaving the terminals, central London generally takes 45 to 80 minutes, according to your destination and the hour. Windsor is 15 to 30 minutes off, which makes it a sound first night before an early connection. Oxford comes to 60 to 90 minutes on the M40, the Cotswolds 90 to 130. Gatwick is 60 to 100 minutes round the M25 anticlockwise, and Farnborough, for a private departure, generally works out at 40 to 65 minutes.
