The cruise terminals along the water send ships out to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and a good deal further, the Boat Show fills the town every September, and the New Forest begins a few minutes down the road. Add a maritime history that shaped the city and the ferries running across to Cowes, and you have a place most visitors pass through on their way to something they have been looking forward to for months.

Cruise transfers are the bulk of what we do here, and they come down to luggage and timing. We collect from home with enough boot space for a fortnight of cases, deliver to the correct terminal — Ocean, Mayflower, Horizon and QEII are not close together — and meet the ship again on the return morning. Hotels, the station and the hospital runs make up most of the remainder.

The New Forest begins at Ashurst and rewards a slow drive through Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu. Winchester and its cathedral sit twenty minutes north, with Salisbury and the plain a little beyond. Lymington and the Solent villages are lovely on a clear day, and Bournemouth and the Jurassic Coast stretch west for anyone with a full day to give them.

Southampton Airport is unusually convenient at around fifteen to twenty-five minutes from the docks. Heathrow is typically an hour and a half to two hours by the M3 and M25, with Gatwick a similar distance east. From central London the M3 usually takes two to two and a half hours, though sailing days and half term add to that, so margin is built in rather than hoped for.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for Southampton

  • 01

    Gate before terminal

At the dock barrier it is the gate number that counts rather than the terminal name. We confirm both against your ship and sailing date beforehand.

  • 02

    Cases, not carry-on

Cruise luggage is a different problem from airport luggage. The vehicle is chosen against the number of cases rather than the number of passengers travelling.

  • 03

    Turnaround day patience

Ships clear in groups and rarely to the printed hour. We hold a window instead of a minute and stay in touch while you work through it.

  • 04

    The Forest en route

Ashurst and Lyndhurst are minutes from the docks, which turns a dull wait before boarding into a morning genuinely worth having.

At a Glance

Southampton

  • The right terminal

Ocean, Mayflower, Horizon and QEII sit some distance apart, and the wrong one costs an hour.

  • Luggage for a fortnight

Cruise cases defeat most cars, so the vehicle is matched to the baggage before the day arrives.

  • New Forest on the doorstep

Lyndhurst and Beaulieu are minutes away and make a far better morning than an airport lounge.

Local Knowledge

Docks, terminals and the last mile

The M3 does the whole distance from town, meeting the M27 at Junction 14 before the A33 drops you into the city. Two to two and a half hours is fair outside the peaks, though sailing Saturdays, half term and anything happening in the New Forest will stretch it. The M27 across the top of the city is the quickest link between the airport, the docks and the western side.

The cruise terminals are split between the Eastern and Western Docks and sit further apart than the map suggests. Each is reached through its own dock gate, and at the barrier the gate is what matters. Once inside, a car may stop long enough to unload with a porter and then must move on, so there is no lingering for photographs. We confirm the gate against the ship and the date rather than assuming last time's arrangement.

Disembarkation works the other way and rewards patience. Passengers are called by group, the terminal is busy, and the chauffeur waits outside the dock estate rather than idling at the kerb, coming forward once you are through with your cases. Away from the port, the Itchen Bridge is the quick way to the Woolston side, and the airport at Eastleigh sits fifteen to twenty-five minutes north with its own station alongside.

Four Steps

How Booking Works

Chauffeur booking with us is a conversation rather than a checkout. Every journey is priced individually.

  1. 01

    Tell us the journey

Send the date, the addresses and the shape of the day on WhatsApp, or use the journey planner. There is no obligation and no card details are taken to get a price.

  2. 02

    We quote in writing

You receive a written quotation covering the vehicle, the timings and everything included — no estimates that move later, and no surge pricing.

  3. 03

    The car is held

On confirmation a vehicle and a named professional chauffeur are assigned to your date, and the terms are put in writing.

  4. 04

    Your chauffeur arrives

Briefed on the route, the access and the waiting arrangements before the day, so nothing is decided at the kerb.

Corporate & Business

Port, marine and campus travel

Southampton's business travel follows the water. Shipping, offshore and freight visitors need access to controlled sites where a taxi cannot simply pull in, and the research and business parks north of the city at Chilworth and Adanac sit well away from any useful railway. A car held for the day covers all of it without a single arrangement made on the pavement.

The university campuses, the general hospital and the port offices are spread across the city and separated by the same handful of congested roads. For visiting teams we plan the order of the day in advance, allow for the M27 and the Itchen crossing, and keep one point of contact throughout so a change takes a message rather than a telephone call.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for Southampton

  • Cruise passengers

Couples and families sailing for a fortnight, who would rather hand the cases over at the door than drive and park at either end.

  • Groups sailing together

Extended families and friends on the same ship, arriving from several addresses and needing to reach check-in inside the same short window.

  • Marine and port business

Visitors to the docks, the offshore sector and the science parks, where site access is controlled and nothing at all is walkable.

  • Sailing week visitors

Guests crossing to Cowes or heading down to the Solent villages, timing an entire day around a ferry rather than a road.

Events & Occasions

Sailing days and the Solent

For most guests the occasion is the ship itself, and the day is really about arriving unhurried and well ahead of a check-in window that cannot be moved. Anniversary sailings, family celebrations and the long winter voyages all follow the same shape, and the pleasure of it is being delivered to the terminal rather than negotiating a multi-storey with four cases.

The Solent supplies the rest. Cowes Week in August draws people to the Red Funnel crossings at Town Quay, the island festivals fill the ferries in June, and Goodwood is around an hour east for the summer meetings and the Revival. Weddings run in the New Forest villages, where the lanes are unlit, unfenced and shared with ponies after dark.

Timing & Availability

Around the sailing calendar

The season runs broadly from spring to late autumn, with the heaviest turnaround days at weekends when several ships are alongside at once. On those mornings the dock approaches queue and the check-in windows are staggered for good reason. Christmas and New Year sailings are booked earliest of all, and the larger vehicles for them go months ahead.

September brings the Boat Show and the roads along the waterfront change for its duration. School holidays fill the M3 in both directions, and a Friday afternoon out of London is best avoided if the ship sails the next morning. What we need is the ship, the sailing date and the number of cases; the timings are then built backwards from your check-in window.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
