Most of our work runs across Great Britain, where a car and chauffeur can be moved from one end of the country to the other on the day if needed. Northern Ireland is different in a way that matters practically rather than philosophically: there is water in between, and water means ferries, sailing times and a vehicle committed to a schedule that has nothing to do with your day.
None of that makes it impossible. It makes it a booking that has to be built rather than dispatched, and one where the honest answer depends on your dates, your itinerary and how much of it sits on the island. Below is how these arrangements are usually put together and what we need to know to give you a straight answer.
Why the sea changes the arrangement
Bringing a car across from Cairnryan or Liverpool costs the vehicle the better part of a day in each direction once you count the drive to the port, the crossing and the drive at the far end. For a week-long touring itinerary that can make sense. For a single transfer from Belfast City Airport to a hotel it clearly does not, and pretending otherwise would waste your money and our time.
The alternative, and the usual answer for shorter bookings, is a chauffeur and vehicle sourced locally through our network of professional operators. The car is prepared to the same standard, unbranded in the same way, and the arrangement runs through the same written thread with us. What changes is where the vehicle comes from, not how the day is handled.
Belfast, the airports and the coast
The bulk of requests here are recognisable: collections from Belfast International or Belfast City, transfers to hotels and country houses, business travel around the city, golf trips to the north coast, and touring days along the Antrim coast road towards the Giant's Causeway. All of that is ordinary chauffeur work once a car and chauffeur are in place.
Distances are modest by mainland standards, which makes multi-stop days pleasant, but the roads reward a driver who knows them. Where we can, we prefer a chauffeur who works the region regularly rather than one visiting it, for exactly the same reason we prefer a London chauffeur in London.
Crossing into the Republic of Ireland
Journeys that cross between Northern Ireland and the Republic are a common request, particularly Belfast to Dublin, and they are entirely possible. They do need agreeing in advance, because a different jurisdiction is involved and the vehicle, its documentation and its cover all need to be right for that. It is not something to raise for the first time on the morning of travel.
Tell us at the enquiry stage if any part of your itinerary crosses the border and we will confirm in writing what has been arranged before you commit. Where something cannot be done for your dates, you will be told plainly rather than left to discover it later.

- Arrival and departure points, including the airport and terminal
- Whether any leg crosses into the Republic of Ireland
- Whether you want the same chauffeur throughout the itinerary
- Vehicle preference, remembering that local supply is narrower
- Whether the booking connects to travel on the mainland
Getting a straight answer
Send the outline over WhatsApp as you would for any other journey, and be as specific as you can about the dates. The reply will say what can be arranged, how, and by which approach, along with a written quotation covering the vehicle and the timings. If the sensible answer is that a local operator is better than a car from the mainland, we will say that rather than sell you the crossing.
It is also worth enquiring earlier than you would for a mainland booking. The pool of vehicles is smaller, the golf and touring seasons concentrate demand, and there is less room to absorb a late change. Early notice buys you choice here more than anywhere else in the United Kingdom.
