Travelling to Paris with your own chauffeur is a different proposition to the Eurostar, and it suits a particular kind of journey: heavy luggage, a family travelling together, a dog, or a schedule that wants a car waiting on the other side rather than a taxi queue at the Gare du Nord. It is a long day and, arranged properly, a genuinely enjoyable one.

The car runs down the M20 through Kent to Folkestone, where it drives onto Eurotunnel Le Shuttle. You remain in the vehicle for the crossing, which takes roughly thirty-five minutes under the Channel. On the French side the car drives off at Coquelles near Calais and continues by road towards Paris, typically another three hours or so on the autoroute depending on conditions around Lille and the approach into the city.

End to end, allow a long day. Eight to ten hours in total is common once the crossing, formalities and stops are included, though this varies with shuttle availability and traffic on both sides. Guests use the time as they would on any long journey: working, sleeping, or watching Picardy go past. Having the same car throughout means your luggage is handled once, at the very start.

Passports and any applicable travel documentation are the passenger's responsibility, and requirements can change, so we confirm what is needed for your specific journey at the time of booking rather than assuming anything. Shuttle crossings are reserved in advance, which means we ask for firm dates early. Return legs, multi-day stays in Paris and onward journeys within France can all be discussed when you enquire.

Why Luxury Chauffeurs

Why Clients Choose Us for London to Paris

  • 01

    One car throughout

The vehicle leaving your London address is the vehicle that stops in Paris, so luggage is loaded once and nothing crosses a concourse in between.

  • 02

    Crossing booked ahead

Shuttle space is reserved in advance against firm dates, and the drive through Kent is timed around the crossing rather than the other way about.

  • 03

    Documents discussed early

Passports and any applicable travel documentation are the passenger's responsibility, and requirements change, so we confirm what your particular journey needs at booking.

  • 04

    Tolls and zones handled

French autoroute tolls and the vehicle requirements for the Paris low-emission zone are dealt with within the arrangements rather than raised at a barrier.

Local Knowledge

Kent, the shuttle, then France

The English half is simple in principle. The M20 runs down through Maidstone and Ashford to the terminal at Folkestone, though it is worth knowing that this stretch is periodically managed under a contraflow when cross-Channel traffic is heavy, which changes the timing noticeably. We arrive with margin, board, and stay in the vehicle for the crossing itself, which takes roughly thirty-five minutes beneath the Channel before the car drives off at Coquelles.

On the French side there are two sensible ways south and the choice is made on the day. The A26 towards Arras and then the A1 is the direct one and also the busiest, with the approach past Lille and the northern edge of Paris accounting for most of the delay. The coastal A16 through Abbeville and Beauvais is longer and frequently calmer. Either way allow around three hours from Calais, and more where the ring road is involved.

Against the train the honest position is this: for two people with cabin bags heading to central Paris, Eurostar is usually quicker and we will say so plainly. The car answers a different question, which is what to do about a dog, a family, six cases, a country address, or a need for the vehicle once you are there. Send passenger details early for the crossing reservation, and treat eight to ten hours as the shape of the day.

Cross Channel — Luxury Chauffeurs
Business chauffeur travel — London to Paris

Corporate & Business

Working across two countries

A cross-Channel chauffeur journey is not the fastest way to reach a Paris meeting and it is frequently the most useful way to reach several. Where a schedule takes in Lille, Roissy and two arrondissements across a couple of days, keeping the same car and the same chauffeur throughout removes an entire layer of arrangements and a great deal of standing about on pavements.

Guests work through Kent and again through Picardy, with the crossing forming a natural half-hour break in the middle of the day. The rear compartment is quiet, calls are private, and nothing discussed on either side of the Channel travels further. Accounts can be arranged in advance so that no payment is handled anywhere along the route at all.

Who We Drive

Who Travels with Us for London to Paris

  • Families crossing together

Parents travelling with young children, a pushchair and rather more than two cabin bags, for whom one car is simpler than any concourse.

  • Travellers with dogs

Guests bringing an animal, where the crossing suits a car far better than the alternatives and the paperwork is discussed well beforehand.

  • Fashion and art buyers

Visitors to the salons, the shows and the fairs, moving pieces that should be carried flat, insured, and never handed to a porter.

  • Extended itineraries

Guests continuing to Champagne, Normandy or the Loire, who want one chauffeur and one vehicle for the whole of a European fortnight.

Events & Occasions

Family crossings and long weekends

For a family, the car version of this journey is markedly less demanding than any alternative. Children stay in one place, the pushchair stays in the boot, snacks remain wherever you left them, and a stop is simply a stop. Many guests build in a pause in Kent before the terminal, and another on the autoroute where lunch is better than the aire suggests.

Long weekends often extend well beyond the city itself. Champagne is a comfortable diversion east, Normandy and the war cemeteries lie west of the route, and the theme parks sit on the far side of Paris and are far easier reached by car than by any combination of train and transfer. Describe the whole itinerary and the days are shaped around it.

Timing & Availability

Crossings, seasons and school holidays

Departures are built backwards from the shuttle. An early start out of London, typically before seven, gives comfortable margin through Kent and puts you into Paris during the afternoon rather than the evening. Later crossings work perfectly well when the arrival is a dinner rather than a meeting, though they do make for a long finish to the day.

Half terms, the fortnight either side of Christmas and the summer changeover weekends are the busiest crossings of the year, and space is best secured well ahead. Same-day returns are not something we would suggest; an overnight in Paris, or a second chauffeur, is the sensible arrangement. Send firm dates and we will say honestly what can be held.

Professional Chauffeur Standards

The Standard We Hold

What a premium chauffeur service should mean in practice, rather than in a brochure.

  • Vetted professional chauffeurs

Every chauffeur is licensed, insured and vetted before they drive for us. They are briefed on your journey in advance and dressed for the occasion.

  • Discretion by default

Vehicles carry no branding. Your chauffeur speaks when spoken to, and what is discussed in the back of the car stays there.

  • Immaculate vehicles

Current-generation cars, valeted before every journey, with still water and charging in the rear compartment.

  • One point of contact

The same person handles your enquiry, your quotation and your booking, so nothing is explained twice.
