The change begins earlier than most people expect. Two to three hours before a large event the roads around Empire Way, Forty Lane, Bridge Road and the High Road begin to fill, and by the time the crowd arrives the pattern is set. Afterwards the release is slower still, and the hour following a full stadium is the worst possible time to attempt anything nearby. We plan collections either well before that window or comfortably after it, and say which one your timing falls into.

We have no connection with the stadium or the arena and make no claim to one; what we do is check what is scheduled for your date and route accordingly. That usually means setting down some distance from the venue and walking the last stretch, or collecting from a point on the far side of the North Circular once the crowd has thinned. Ealing Road, Alperton and the A40 give a useful way out to the south when the northern roads are impossible.

Evening runs and weekends are considerably freer, and airport legs are the ones most worth padding.

Availability in the capital is deeper than anywhere else in the country, so short-notice requests are frequently workable, even the same day. The exceptions are the obvious ones: December evenings, the days of a major sporting or state occasion, and any Saturday in the wedding season. For those, book when the date is set rather than when the week finally arrives.
