From Edinburgh's Old Town Through to the Great Glen

Edinburgh opens most Scottish itineraries, and rightly. One single ridge carries the Old Town from the castle down to Holyrood, walkable inside a morning, with the Georgian grid of the New Town a few minutes north and utterly different in character. Spend a day here before heading north and everything afterwards has context. Your chauffeur, meanwhile, can shift you between the two ends of that ridge instead of leaving you to climb back up it.

The country opens fast once you are north of the city. First Stirling and the Trossachs, then Loch Lomond, and by early afternoon the road is crossing Rannoch Moor into Glencoe, a valley so severe and so beautiful that most people ask to stop twice in it. Beyond lie Fort William, the Great Glen, Loch Ness, and eventually the road to Skye. Distances run long, and much of it is single carriageway.

Which is the argument for being driven. Some days of Scottish touring mean five or six hours at the wheel, often in rain, often on roads where passing places genuinely matter. Give that to a professional and you reach the hotel in the evening still able to enjoy dinner. It also means stopping wherever the light breaks, and in the Highlands that happens without warning and does not hang about waiting.

Winter itineraries want honest planning. December daylight runs from roughly half past eight to half past three, so we build shorter driving days and set off early. Summer hands you light until eleven at night and an altogether different sort of trip. Either way the itinerary follows your hotels and your interests instead of some fixed route.

From our side comes the vehicle and the chauffeur, with your chauffeur's accommodation arranged by us and spelled out in the written quotation. Hotels, distillery visits and admissions you arrange yourselves. Yours holds no guide licence and does not narrate, though we can arrange a qualified guide to travel with you for all of the trip or part of it.
